- The African Relief Committee (ARC) has announced the successful completion of 14 education projects in Somaliland in the past three quarters of 2023. The projects are part of ARC’s broader strategy to equip people with the knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of their communities.
The projects benefited over 1644 students from poor families. They included:
- Construction of educational and cultural centers
- Rebuilding and maintenance of schools
- Technical and vocational education and Training (TVET) programs.
ARC implemented these projects with the support of ALRAHMA International Societies in Kuwait.
Dr. Abdirahman Moalimi, ARC Director General, said that one of the organization’s cornerstone goals is to build the person by providing him/her the education and skills to get the opportunities in the job market.
“We are committed to providing quality education to the people of Somaliland,” said Dr. Moalimi. Adding that these projects will help to improve access to education and create opportunities for young people to develop their skills and contribute to the development of their community. He underlined that ARC’s goal is making its projects sustainable and reduce their reliance on donors, by generating income from social development projects.
ARC has implemented dozens of projects in Somaliland and other regions in the Horn of Africa. These projects have focused on education, health, water, job creation, and economic and cultural development.

Additionally, the center aims to combat illiteracy within the community.
Funding for this project has been generously provided by ALRAHMA International. It falls under ARC’s broader social initiatives, which strive to address the educational needs of underprivileged communities.
