The Horn of Africa faces numerous challenges, with food insecurity being a critical concern. According to the United Nations, a staggering 4.3 million people are currently food insecure.
In the spirit of Eid al-Adha, the African Relief Committee (ARC) is launching a collaborative meat distribution campaign (#Odha2024) alongside regional and international organizations, individuals, and stakeholders. This initiative aims to distribute Odha meat donated by generous philanthropists to underprivileged communities, fostering a sense of shared celebration during this festive period.
The #Odha2024 campaign presents an opportunity to cultivate philanthropy within the affluent community, reinforcing the values of cooperation and benevolence. Dr. Abdirahman Moallimi, Director General of the ARC, emphasizes the campaign’s goal of reaching over 100,000 vulnerable families, including those displaced by conflicts.
This initiative aligns with the ARC’s broader “#EidClothing” program, which provides Eid clothing to children, particularly orphans and those from low-income families.
“The #Odha2024 campaign is one of our most significant annual endeavors,” states Dr. Moallimi. “The ARC is committed to expanding its reach, ensuring maximum support for vulnerable families and individuals facing displacement, especially during these challenging economic times.” He added.
Dr. Moallimi extends a sincere call to action, inviting charitable organizations, businesses, and individuals with philanthropic inclinations to participate in this impactful project. Their contributions will directly address the critical needs of the Horn of Africa by delivering Odha meat and Eid clothing to impoverished communities.
Let us unite in compassion and solidarity during this auspicious time. Through collective action, we can bring joy, relief, and hope to the Horn of Africa, fostering a brighter future for all.
